Just a Few Pictures I Found Tonight

I found these photos that I had not included on the last post so I wanted to do that.... just a little more of the beginning progress...

Today's Progress

Today we got the air conditioner secured. We put a "frame" inside the walls that was just right for the air conditioner. We screwed the inside wall to the frame, the outside wall to the frame and then the air conditioner to a small piece of wood the perfect size and into the frame in between the walls. This air conditioner is on the side of the camper. It does not hang out anymore than my mirrors do on my van and this is because of the unit I chose. I specifically picked this one so that most of the unit would be inside the camper and because it blows air UP instead of just straight across the floor.
This is why this works for us. I also have seen other pictures of a camper (hard sided) that has an air conditioner just like this one on the side of their camper and it worked as well for them. Here are the pictures of today's progress.

We thought about putting in the foam.. but it didn't fit that well...

So we put the black rubber tape on it like we used on the outside.

We still need the "trim" around the floor to cover up the imperfections and we will secure the air conditioner tomorrow as well. Then just a cabinet to build, and paint the second coat on the roof and we are DONE.. for now at least :D

 I chose this air conditioner for a few reasons.. one there is a SMALL amount of over hand outside of the camper, two most of the air conditioner is inside the camper and three, the air comes out the top and not just out of the front to help get the whole camper cooled down better.

We got some work done today

We started on the air conditioner. It has a place now but is not completely secured yet. That is for tomorrow. I also started on the flooring. I LOVE it. Here are a few pictures of today's work. Also a little reminder of what it used to look like there...

Got Something Done Today

My baby and I were working on the camper today.. well.. he did most of it while I supervised and did some of the trim work with the brush. This is what we got done today... Keep in mind this is just the first coat!!

I am still here

I am still around and will still be making changes to the pop up.. just with finals around the corner and raining like crazy it has not been the right time to get started. I am calling to get the hitch put on the car and then taking it to get the roof sprayed with the Line-X and then after April 30th and my classes are done for three weeks I will get back out there and get the floor in.

I think I have decided to not put a cabinet in the camper but to keep stuff in a tote and maybe put the toilet and a shower in. There are SO many ways to include a shower so I we can do that easily and not permanent. Just Google how to add a shower to your pop up and you will find lots of ideas. I plan on just using a tote to stand in if we want to use one. Still not sure we will do that or not. Right now we are just going to do the floor and eventually do the canvas and then it will be almost like a new camper.. oh yeah and the tired and wheels.. that will be done this summer.

Some Supplies

We went to Home Depot again.. yes we seem to live in that store lately. We got some 2' x 4' underlayment lumber to put down on the floor over top of the current floor. It was not wet and was in good shape but I really wanted a very thin (1/8th of an inch or less) and then our floor. This stuff even with being so thin is pretty good and even pretty cheap (less than $6 per sheet). I am actually going to get some more of it (maybe just one piece) and use that to do the cabinet in place of the kitchen that we took out. I am not sure the size yet because I will put the toilet there and see how much room that needs. I am getting even more excited to get in there again and start working.

Weather Getting In The Way

It is supposed to rain pretty much all day (well the best part of it) tomorrow so I am not sure that I will be going any of the flooring that day. I guess it will have to wait a few more days. :( I have the stuff to do it and that makes it even harder to wait.
OK rain.. hurry up and get gone so we can start work on the camper again! Everything is here and after the floor is done I can get the toilet out there and decide how big the cabinet will be and then start on the air conditioner and prepare it for Line-X. Can we say CAMPING FEVER???

Taking a Break...

Between nursing school and weather (too cold, too windy or even calling for snow again this weekend) the progress may have to take a small break.

We got the top shelf taken apart and got the counter top off. I am saving that to cut down and use on the new counter I am going to build. I am pretty excited to have that to use. The rest of it was metal so we got rid of that today in our local dump that takes metal. SO happy about that.

Stuff came today too. We got the toilet, battery box, 19" TV, Lodge Dutch Oven (10" shallow), bunk end covers, Dutch oven stand, and charcoal starter.

Trip to Home Depot Tonight

Well, since we got the old flooring up tonight, we made a trip to Home Depot. I saw a vinyl flooring that I fell in love with.. so we got that one instead. I LOVE IT!!!

     We also are going to put in an air conditioner. This will look similar to this one that I found online. 

We Got The Floor Out Today

We got the tile and linoleum up today. I have to say that the floor is in WAY better shape than I thought it was going to be so it doesn't look like I am going to need to do that much to it. Just put down the new flooring/vinyl. Here are a few pictures of my son and I taking out the flooring today and my mom supervising :)
