Some Supplies

We went to Home Depot again.. yes we seem to live in that store lately. We got some 2' x 4' underlayment lumber to put down on the floor over top of the current floor. It was not wet and was in good shape but I really wanted a very thin (1/8th of an inch or less) and then our floor. This stuff even with being so thin is pretty good and even pretty cheap (less than $6 per sheet). I am actually going to get some more of it (maybe just one piece) and use that to do the cabinet in place of the kitchen that we took out. I am not sure the size yet because I will put the toilet there and see how much room that needs. I am getting even more excited to get in there again and start working.

Weather Getting In The Way

It is supposed to rain pretty much all day (well the best part of it) tomorrow so I am not sure that I will be going any of the flooring that day. I guess it will have to wait a few more days. :( I have the stuff to do it and that makes it even harder to wait.
OK rain.. hurry up and get gone so we can start work on the camper again! Everything is here and after the floor is done I can get the toilet out there and decide how big the cabinet will be and then start on the air conditioner and prepare it for Line-X. Can we say CAMPING FEVER???

Taking a Break...

Between nursing school and weather (too cold, too windy or even calling for snow again this weekend) the progress may have to take a small break.

We got the top shelf taken apart and got the counter top off. I am saving that to cut down and use on the new counter I am going to build. I am pretty excited to have that to use. The rest of it was metal so we got rid of that today in our local dump that takes metal. SO happy about that.

Stuff came today too. We got the toilet, battery box, 19" TV, Lodge Dutch Oven (10" shallow), bunk end covers, Dutch oven stand, and charcoal starter.

Here is the counter we saved to cut down...

Trip to Home Depot Tonight

Well, since we got the old flooring up tonight, we made a trip to Home Depot. I saw a vinyl flooring that I fell in love with.. so we got that one instead. I LOVE IT!!!
We also are going to put in an air conditioner. This will look similar to this one that I found online.

We Got The Floor Out Today

We got the tile and linoleum up today. I have to say that the floor is in WAY better shape than I thought it was going to be so it doesn't look like I am going to need to do that much to it. Just put down the new flooring/vinyl. Here are a few pictures of my son and I taking out the flooring today and my mom supervising :)

I also included the picture of the tongue before and after that I painted.. last year.

Today's Progess

..... I could just leave the page blank. That is what I got done today. We had winds up to 20-30 mph and even had warning of up to 50 mph gusts. That was not something I wanted to mess with. That kind of wind would make my mini leak seem like nothing at all. ;)
Tomorrow is supposed to be 71 degrees so we will see how much we can get done. At least get it up and airing/drying out. That is a start!

List of what we are going to do to the camper.

Well. I had a list of what needed to be done to the camper and what we wanted to do to the camper. Since I made that first list, the items have changed some. There have been more added to the needed list than before... so some of the wanted items have had to be put on hold for now.

So, here are the newest lists.. which of course could still change.

Things we Need/Want to do to the camper
  • Replace the wooden floor (and then put in the vinyl flooring that looks like wood and is made for we areas such as basements and bathrooms - we have some leftover from building on to our house so we don't have to buy that).  **We actually changed our minds. We found this floor and purchased it for the camper
  • Repair the roof where it is leaking - rotten wood spots.
  • Get roof sprayed with Line-X (this was what was recommended by our local RV shop).
  • Tear out the kitchen cabinets and replace them with storage box and place for toilet for my son. (several reasons for this) (done)
  • Install air conditioner that we purchased for my son :) (done purchased but won't install until other work is done)
  • Purchase and install new canvas from Bear Creek Canvas. (This will not be this summer).
  • Purchase and install bunk end covers to protect from rain and hold in the air conditioning. (with Velcro under the ends of the roof above the canvas on the bunk ends - Can't afford the PopUp Gizmos right now). (done purchased.. waiting to fix roof before installing)
  • Get new tires and wheels (the ones we have are OK for now).
  • Get new battery - Group 27 DC (deep cycle) marine battery - got it at Walmart. (done)
  • Get battery box (Found mine on Ebay). (done)
  • Get battery cable (also found on Ebay). (done)
  • Replace curtains.
  • Spray the front of the camper frame with Rustoleum (done -  will post pictures tomorrow)
I guess after all of this is done we will pretty much have a brand new camper. Only some of it will still be the parts it came with. I am pretty happy about that.. we won't be getting rid of it any time soon!!!

The links that are included show what items I purchased. I do not make anything on them if you click on the links or purchase these items on your own. I just wanted to share what we are doing for anyone out there that may want or need to do these things as well.
Not all of them have been purchased or will be purchased for this summer. Some of them are things I want to do (like the curtains) but don't really HAVE to do. Some of the items we purchased don't have to do with the rebuild but I included them anyway.

Camper Rebuild is starting.

Last year we purchased a used 1984 Coleman Sun Valley pop up camper. We love it so much and can't wait to use it. I have to do some work on "her". :D
Here are some of the before pictures that I have taken so that you can follow our journey in making something old and wonderful, new and even more exciting!
